EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The 2024 Week 4 9 Overtime Game of the Week is a District 1-5A Division II matchup between the Del Valle Conquistadores and Canutillo Eagles on Friday night at C. Julius & Irene Lowenberg Stadium.

Canutillo has ruled District 1-5A Division II recently as the program has won the district title the last three seasons. With the new reclassification and realignment changes that were made this year, Del Valle, the District 1-5A Division I champion three of the last four years, are now part of 1-5A Division II and will compete will Canutillo for the crown this season.

    CANUTILLO

Canutillo will head into Friday’s game undefeated: 3-0. The Eagles have beat Pebble Hills, Montwood, and Burges to start its season. Canutillo’s defense has been dominant so far. Canutillo has shut out two of its three opponents, outscoring its opponents 70-3 at this point of the season. On offense, the Eagles are averaging 23.3 points per game.

Canutillo WR/DB Eduardo “Lalo” Carrillo will be the player to watch out for on the Eagles on Friday night. He’s a member of the 2024 Fine 9.

    DEL VALLE

Del Valle will head into Friday’s game undefeated as well. After its first game of the season against Montwood was cancelled, Del Valle has responded with two straight wins. Del Valle beat Franklin, 24-14, at Franklin Stadium on Sept. 6 and the beat El Paso High, 62-6, last weekend.

Del Valle will be led by two NCAA Division I talents. Junior QB Jake Fette is a DI prospect and is the leader of the Conquistadores’ offense. Senior RB/DB Manny Fuller, who is a Utah commit, is Del Valle’s two-way star and an impact player.

This game will have major implications for the district title down the line.
