City to celebrate new police regional command center

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The City of El Paso is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the El Paso Police Department’s new Upper East Side Regional Command Center.

It is the first police regional command center the City has built in more than two decades, the City said in its news release.

The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 14301 Pebble Hills Blvd.

The state-of-the art facility will provide EPPD with a police station in El Paso’s fastest growing region, the City said.

Construction was managed by the City’s Capital Improvement Department and is part of a $413 million Public Safety Bond approved by voters in 2019. The bond approved funding to construct new police and fire facilities and renovate existing public safety buildings, according to the City.

“We are excited to inaugurate the new command center made possible thanks to the hard work of our city officials, community leaders, and everyone involved in bringing this project to life,” Police Chief Peter F. Pacillas said. “To our Police Department and public safety partners, this building reflects our shared values of professionalism and community service. We look forward to strengthening our neighborhoods together.”

The new command center will feature the following amenities and services:

• Administrative offices
• Public art
• Secured employee and public parking
• Holding cells and suspect interrogation rooms
• Victim interview rooms
• Fitness center for police personnel
• Community room
• Municipal Court bond area
