EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – The Rio Grande Council of Governments (RGCOG) named three new officers to its board of directors and two additional directors for the new fiscal year at an event held Friday, Sept.13, according to the organization in a news release.

The RGCOG president position passed to El Paso County Commissioner Iliana Holguin, who previously held the position of second vice president for the organization, according to the news release.

Jeff Davis County Judge Curtis Evans was appointed RGCOG’s first vice president and City of San Elizario Alderman David Cantu was appointed second vice president.

Meanwhile, Mayor Summer Webb, of the City of Valentine and Mayor Manny Baeza, of the City of Marfa were named Small Communities Representatives in the rural areas.

In addition, Cantu also remains a Small Communities Representative in the rural areas for cities within El Paso County, other than the City of El Paso, according to the news release.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to better serve the Rio COG communities,” Commissioner Holguin said. “This is a wonderful and diverse group of people who I look forward to serving alongside to promote significant change in our region.”
