EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – NM State women’s basketball took to the court Wednesday afternoon to host the teams first practice of the season.

The Aggies are coming off of a 13-18 record last year, where its season came to an end in the semi-finals of the Conference USA Tournament against Liberty.

NMSU is returning nine players to its 2024-2025 roster bringing back a handful of veterans and experience to the squad. With this leadership, the team looks to pick up where they left off last year.

“When you look back at how things transpired towards the end, we didn’t really click as a team until maybe two or three games before the conference tournament. Keeping that in mind and understanding, especially like with today being the first official practice, it has to start now.”

“You walk in and say, ‘Okay, where do we begin?’, said head coach Jody Adams. “With our chemistry, we want to we want to rep winning ways and that really starts in the heart of who you are as a human. Because we play with other people. We’ve got to serve, we’ve got to help, we got to give. No matter if we’re winning or losing we want to stay with a growth mindset.”

NMSU will begin its non-conference schedule at home October 27th against Cameron University.
