Police say they responded just before 9 p.m. that Wednesday to the 9200 block of Gateway East about a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Hugo Alexis Montiel-Sanchez, 19, was traveling eastbound on Gateway East on a motorcycle.

Police say Montiel-Sanchez accelerated and began to travel at a high rate of speed for reasons unknown.

The motorcycle then went to the left of the roadway and began to travel through the landscape.

Montiel-Sanchez became dislodged from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries, police said. He was transported to a local hospital but died as a result of his injuries, police added.

Come on El Paso, it's never been about "staying in the speed limit", it's about motorcycle riders driving carelessly. I've tried so hard to feel some type of empathy, but it's hard. This is a choice one makes to disobey the Law and speed. These people are playing Russian Roulette with their lives and leaving loved ones to pick up Their pieces of the lives they've shattered. So NO...you paid the price of making crappy decisions. No empathy here. So before you try and judge me?....Think twice

Experienced mature riders generally handle themselves safely on very powerful motorcycles…New riders with very little riding experience find themselves over their heads and statistically are much more likely to get hurt. 19 years old is way too young to die…😢🙏🏼
