HOUSTON (KIAH) — Almost 700,000 Texas families have received more than three quarters of a billion dollars so far, but time is running out to register for assistance.

As of Monday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency reports it had doled out $754.2 million to 697,250 households that are recovering from damage caused by Hurricane Beryl.

The deadline to apply for FEMA aid is Thursday for victims of the July 8 storm that carved a long path of devastation across the Houston area.

Anyone who was impacted by Beryl is urged to register with FEMA by October 10, and the application process can be done in several ways.

FEMA continues to operate Disaster Recovery Centers in Southeast Texas where those seeking aid can meet face-to-face with agency representatives trained to help them out.

Applications can also be submitted through FEMA’s website and mobile app, and storm victims can also register by calling 800-621-3362.
