EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) received one customer call for discolored water during the month of September, the utility said in a press release on Thursday, Oct. 10.

The utility says it received one customer call for discolored water in September, which is down from five calls in August.

“Discolored water calls include brown or yellow water. Causes include water line breaks, water wells returning to service and hydrant flushes that disturb naturally occurring sediments that accumulate in the distribution system over time,” the utility said.

The utility also provided a table of data with the number of customer calls for discolored water. That table is the following.

    Month/Year Number of calls
    February 2024 28
    March 2024 20
    April 2024 7
    May 2024 1
    June 2024 0
    July 2024 0
    August 2024 5
    September 2024 1

“CRRUA executive director Juan Crosby initiated the monthly tracking of discolored water calls in February 2024, after taking over as interim executive director in January 2024,” the utility said.
