Week 8 #9OT Game of the Week: Eastwood vs. Pebble Hills

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The 2024 Week 8 #9OT Game of the Week will be a 1-6A matchup between the Eastwood Troopers and the Pebble Hills Spartans.

Spartans head into the seventh week of the season with a 3-3 record, 2-0 in district play. After a rocky start to the season in non-district play collecting just one win during that time, Pebble Hills has been off to a great start in district. Taking both its competitions against Coronado and Montwood has put the Spartans on a two game win streak headed into week eight.

Its offensive efforts are led by sophomore quarterback Joe Fernandez recording five rushing and four passing touchdowns on the season. Running back Zereian Quarles is another name to be a look out for in Fridays matchup averaging 154.5 yards per game on the ground

This is compared to the Troopers 3-4 overall, 1-2 district record. Eastwood is looking to break a two game losing streak, picking up its last win on Sept. 27th against Socorro.

The Troopers run a bit more of a balanced offense Jayden Martinez averaging above 107 yards in the run game and Fabian Penaloza averaging 100 yards receiving. Jude Walker sits just behind Penaloza as the second top targeted receiver collecting 99 yards per game.

Kickoff between the two is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18th at 7:30 p.m.
