Socorro ISD to host career fair for high-school sophomores

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) – High-school sophomores from the Socorro Independent School District (SISD) are invited to attend Career Con XXL this week.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Eastlake High School, 13000 Emerald Pass Ave.

SISD said over 3,500 students are expected to participate in this career exploration fair, which will feature employers from some of the area’s “top and most sought-after industries.”

Students will be able to have one-on-one conversations with employers, learn about career paths and get advice on taking the necessary steps toward their dream job after high school, according to SISD.

SISD said students will also learn what is required of them to succeed in their desired career path, including necessary certifications, skills and education.

The event will provide insight into available apprenticeships and internship opportunities in the region.

In addition, over 50 employers, such as El Paso Electric and GECU, are expected to attend, according to SISD.
