EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — The remains of 36 people will be buried next Wednesday, Oct. 23, during an unclaimed burial ceremony in Las Cruces, Doña Ana County said in a press release.

The County says 36 people will be buried at 10 a.m. next Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Cemetery East, located at 100 S. Espina St. in Las Cruces.

The ceremony will honor individuals who passed away without family or loved ones coming forward to claim their remains. The ceremony will be open to the public.

The County says each body was cremated and the remains have been in the custody of the Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department for at least two years, which is required by state law.

The County pays for the cremation and burial of the individuals. The unclaimed remains of military veterans are buried each year at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with full military honors.

The County also provided a list of the individuals who will be buried. Those names are the following:

Cremains may be claimed by family or friends, by calling Stephanie Barrera at 575-525-5866.
