SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS )—A university in Shreveport and a university in northwest India have reached an agreement that will allow students to earn dual graduate degrees.

The Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management in Ahmedabad, India, and Louisiana State University Shreveport partnership now allows students from IITRAM to earn a Master of Business Administration at IITRAM and a Master of Science in Computer Systems Technology with a concentration in business administration from LSU Shreveport simultaneously.

Four classes from LSUS’s MBA online program have been added to IITRAM’s curriculum, and Indian students will complete the LSUS program in person at the Louisiana campus.

The degree can be completed in two to three years.

A virtual signing with leaders at both universities occurred in early October.

LSU Shreveport chancellor Robert Smith said the campus looks forward to welcoming Indian students into the program.

“This is an unusual agreement for lots of reasons, and it shows that we’re thinking outside of the box and thinking about the future,” said Smith.

Indian students who finish the program will be eligible for up to three years of post-completion work experience in the United States. Students can begin the program in the fall of 2025 and come to the LSU Shreveport campus beginning in 2026. Both universities collaborated on the design of the program.

There is potential for program expansion to allow LSU Shreveport students and faculty to study and teach in India.

“Our students here in Shreveport are often place bound, so it’s valuable for them to interact with faculty and students from other parts of the world,” said Helen Taylor, LSU Shreveport’s provost. “That’s an education beyond the classroom as they are exposed to different cultural and global perspectives, and we thank you for helping students access that opportunity.”

Axaykumar Mehta is IITRAM’s Dean of Academics. He said that the opportunity to study abroad is extremely valuable.

“This is a great opportunity for both universities to have this kind of collaboration,” said Mehta.

This is the sixth memorandum of understanding between LSU Shreveport and educational institutions in India.
