TNHSFB: Canutillo beats Chapin 41-7 in vital 1-5A DII game

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Week eight of the Texas high school football season and week nine of the New Mexico high school football season kicked off on Thursday night.

In a vital District 1-5A DII contest, Canutillo collected a 41-7 win over Chapin at Irvin Memorial Stadium on Thursday night. With the win, Canutillo jumped up into second place in the district standings.

Canutillo improved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in district play.

Chapin fell to 4-4 overall and 4-2 in district play.

In District 1-6A, Coronado played its way to a 29-7 win over Montwood at Quarles-Brooks Stadium. With the win, Coronado picked up its first district victory of the season.

Coronado improved to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in district play.

Montwood fell to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in district play.

Over in Las Cruces, Las Cruces High beat Alamogordo, 60-14, in a District 3-6A game at the Field of Dreams.

Las Cruces High improved to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in district play.
