BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Several people were injured Wednesday afternoon when a "dust devil" hit a tent as dignitaries gathered for the ribbon-cutting of ODOT's Highway 97/20 Bend North Corridor Project.

Officials had just begun the ceremony to officially open the $195 million project and ODOT Director Kris Strickler was speaking at the time.

The dust devil blew through the area and uprooted a tent, sending it into the crowed and injuring some guests.

At least one person was transported from the scene by ambulance. Deschutes County Commssioner Patti Adair told us she had a minor injury and was headed to the hospital to get a cut on her nose checked out.

    The ceremony was quickly canceled.
