The Minot Majette Soccer team is coming off of a huge win on Friday where they were able to take down one of the top teams in the WDA, the Mandan Braves by a final of 10-0. Now, through the first 9 games of the year, the Majettes have yet to be scored on, but that’s thanks to their freshman goalkeeper Kynsli Gillmore, who’ve just became Minot High School’s all-time career leader in shutouts with twenty.

Despite it being an individual accomplishment, Gillmore couldn’t imagine getting it done without her teammates.

“It’s really fun. I couldn’t have done it without my team. My defensive line is great, so that helps a lot. My teammates are just great!”, says Gillmore.

Taking it game by game and putting her team first, this accomplishment was quite the suprise for the freshman.

“I had no idea until two games before when my Coach came up to me and he was like, you’re going to tie this record, and I was like that’s crazy! I didn’t even notice that there was a record! I was super nervous obviously but it’s just like a relief to finally be there”.

The great Chuck Noll once stated that “good things happen to those who hustle.” Gillmore’s dedication and hard work is something that her Head Coach admires the most.

“I think the best thing about Kinsley is she’s always willing to learn she’s a great kid she just always wants to get better and ask for goalie training whenever we can get her some and she’s just outstanding to work with on a daily basis”, says Head Coach Matt Pfau.

The pressure weighs a ton at the goalie position for Gilmore, but she says that it’s her teammates who have made this season a breeze thus far.

“It’s defiantly a challenge sometimes especially if my back line gets beat because I’m the last defender, so if I get beat it’s probably going in. It’s a lot of pressure, but I think I have enough trust in my teammates to know that they’re not going to mess up and I know they got my back”, says Gillmore.
