BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — Last weekend, there were reports of stalking around a Walmart in Bottineau County.

And with the Bureau of Justice Statistics reporting that 3.4 million people in America were victims of stalking in 2019, it’s important to know what resources are out there if you ever do become a victim.

CAWS North Dakota provides a detailed directory of local crisis centers throughout the state.

In Bottineau County, for instance, there is a family crisis center that provides assistance with incidents like stalking.

These centers can be a great resource if the victim doesn’t feel ready to go to report the incident to local law enforcement.

They also help with safety planning, emotional support, finding legal assistance, and more.

CAWS also provides resources for those dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault.
