MINOT, N.D.– The Minot State football team are are gearing up for yet another football season. This year’s team is Minot State’s 99th team in school history, and they’ll look to flip the script from years past, as they look to get their first winning record dating all the way back to the 2010 season.

“Great energy we have some great leadership today and we’re excited about this season. The 99th team in the history of Minot State football team 99 got some work today. The challenge for us right now is to climb the mountain. It’s like Mount Everest here. You know the NSIC is the best division 2 conference in the country, and we have work to do, but at least we’re on the accent and I think that we’re pointing in the right direction”, said Head Coach Ian Shields.

The MSU Football team has been putting in work all summer long with hopes of turning this football program around. The Beavers know that turning around this program will be a day by day process.

” It’s great we’ve been out in the summer working hard and getting our workouts in. It’s great to have Coaches out here now. We’ve made great bounds in the offseason, and it’s just great to be out here the first day. Everybody’s flying around obviously some mistakes the first day. We’re going to get it clean up and keep working hard”, said Carson Chrisman.

“The biggest thing is just getting out here running around and getting loose. It’s a colder day fore sure for us for our first day of fall camp, which we all really appreciate , and yes it was a lot of fun to run around today”, said Carson Cayko.

Come August 29th, the Beavers will look to renew an old North Dakota rivalry against the Valley City State Vikings. Less than 30 days away from that Thursday evening showdown, one goal that the Beavers have is for this new look Beavers team to bond and gel before the home opener.

” To add to the leadership here, we have a lot of new comers that showed up. We’ve seen some of those guys flash. We have some talented kids to come join this program whether they’re transfer portal guys, junior college guys, or a lot high school true freshman here in this class that we’re excited about. Right now we just got here, so we’re tryna figure out everybody’s name and getting to know each other. So, that’s the challenge right now is to build this team to bond this team before we kick off August 29th”, said Shields.
