    These 12 uses for vinegar are a little strange

    NORTH DAKOTA ( KXNET ) — Vinegar, which is commonly used while cooking or for food preservation, is actually something you can use for cleaning.

    Since vinegar is acidic, it’s effective and environmentally friendly as a cleaning agent. It’s also very cost-effective, as a you can get a 64-ounce bottle for roughly $3. This size will not only last you a long time since you only need a little bit, but it will end up saving you money by not purchasing other cleaning products — an added bonus is that it has a long shelf life.

    For these cleaning hacks, you’ll want to use just a small amount of vinegar — distilled white vinegar is preferred, but you may want apple cider vinegar for a few things.

    The first use can be to clean your coffee pot. All you have to do is run a brew cycle with vinegar.

    The second use is to clean the shower head by filling a bag with vinegar, tying it to the shower head, and leaving it for 12 hours.

    If you want to peel hard-boiled eggs easier, you can add vinegar to the water.

    You can soothe leg cramps by rubbing some vinegar on the affected area.

    For a great window and glass cleaner, you can mix vinegar with cornstarch, or, for something simpler, you can add a small amount of vinegar to water.

    If you want to keep flowers alive longer, mix vinegar and sugar in warm water.

    You can use vinegar as a natural fabric softener by adding a few drops of essential oils of your choosing.

    Make leather furniture shiny again by mixing vinegar with warm water.

    Mix vinegar with baking soda to make a natural glass stovetop cleaner.

    As long as you don’t try this on wood, you can clean floors by mixing water and vinegar. You can make it smell better by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil.

    Another use is to soak rust-covered items in vinegar to remove it.

    The final use is to remove wallpaper by spraying it with vinegar and warm water.

    Considering that vinegar has a smell majority of people don’t like, you can always open a window, turn on a fan, or use a candle to help mask or get rid of the smell quicker.
