MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — We’re finding out more about a woman who was arrested this week after police say she took her two kids without permission.

This week, police in Minot were trying to find Cyngay Merjil and her two kids after they said the kids were taken from daycare without permission.

We learned in June, the highway patrol arrested Merjil on a DUI drug charge after they said she was driving erratically on Highway 83 with three kids in the car.

Merjil told a trooper she had taken Xanax, the trooper also found meth and marijuana in the car.

On Tuesday of this week, police say Merjil showed up at a Minot daycare and took her kids from a fenced play area.

Police say Merjil then took the kids to a hotel in northwest Minot. Officers went to the hotel on Wednesday and arrested Merjil.

When they interviewed the children, police say the kids told them they hadn’t eaten all day.

Merjil had warrants in both Minot and Ward County, court papers say she violated her 24/7 sobriety program because she didn’t show up to get tested on July 2.
