    Bismarck Marathon sets 2024 schedule for the last days of summer

    BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — The Bismarck Marathon, presented by MDU Resources, has finalized the official race weekend schedule for 2024. The event, which is celebrating its 43rd year, takes place Saturday and Sunday, September, 21-22. Fall officially starts on September 22 around 9:44 a.m., CDT.

    Here’s the breakdown of the races over the two-day program:

    Saturday, Sept. 21

    • SCHEELS 5K and Sanford Health 10K: 8:30 AM CT
    • Bartlett & West Kids Mini Marathon: 10:30 AM CT
    • Mandan Automotive BisBark 4K Dog Walk: 11 AM CT

    Sunday, Sept. 22

    • MDU Resources Full Marathon, Basin Electric Power Cooperative Half Marathon, and BNSF Railway Marathon Relay: 7:30 AM CT
    • Course closes at 2 PM CT.

    The Bismarck Marathon introduced a new route in 2023, which starts and finishes at the North Dakota State Capitol Building. Runners from across the United States and Canada travel to Bismarck for the event, which hosts over 1,800 attendees. Community members also largely support the event, with 415 total volunteers in 2023.

    The Bismarck Marathon supported 28 different local organizations and charities in 2023, totaling $55,125. Since 2007, the Bismarck Marathon has donated $387,090 and $145,550 in the last three years.
