BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — Three men and a woman, none of whom have ties to North Dakota, have been charged in an apparent fentanyl trafficking ring operating out of the Bismarck area.

Police say a person tipped them off that Davon McClinton, also known as ‘D-Boy’, was traveling from Detroit to Bismarck with drugs.

Investigators got a search warrant for an apartment along Arbor Avenue on Friday. Inside, they found four people, including McClinton, Steven Hicks, Jaymone Walker Estes, and the renter of the apartment. They also arrested Albrina Curtis at a Bismarck hotel.

According to a Metro Area Narcotics Task Force affidavit, the four are from places in Michigan, West Virginia, and California and, since July, had been involved in manufacturing, transporting, and distributing the drug out of a Bismarck apartment. Police say Curtis is a prostitute, who one man adds helped McClinton and Hicks by giving them rides and laundering money.

The affidavit states that a search of the apartment turned up 720 M30 fentanyl pills, with a street value of about $20,000 in the Bismarck area. Authorities state that one of those arrested had said he was told there was “money to be made” from selling fentanyl in Bismarck.

McClinton was in court this week. He’s being charged with Conspiracy to Manufacture and deliver Fentanyl and Drug Possession of 40 Grams or More, both of which are ‘A’ felony counts.

Both McClinton and Hicks had their bonds set at $200,000. Agents say Hicks drove a rental car and brought more pills to sell.

When questioned, Jaymone Walker Estes said he was getting paid to stay at the apartment in Bismarck and oversee the operation.

So far, the four people are set to go to trial on December 4. All of them are being charged with Delivery or Manufacture of a Controlled Substance, a Class A Felony, and three are facing multiple counts.
