BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — North Dakota Army National Guard (NDANG) soldiers are conducting a field training exercise August 16-18, at the Kimball Bottoms Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area, south of Bismarck.

Soldiers with the 816th Military Police (MP) Company were out patrolling and setting up traffic control points for the training area on Friday, August 16. They will provide security for soldiers of the 957th Engineer Company, who will be constructing a temporary bridge over the river near Kimball Bottoms OHV.

Specialist Tyler Zook, an MP Soldier with the 816th Military Police Company, says this is his first time training at Kimball Bottoms, and he looks forward to getting out in the field to test his skills.

“I’m always excited for field environments. It’s not every weekend you get to suit up and come out here and just do what you got to do. You get the river view and you mix it with good training, and it just makes for a great time,” expressed Zook.

The NDANG reminds people to be aware of the exercise and maintain a safe distance from the area. This weekend, the Kimball Bottoms OHV area will be closed to the public, so soldiers can safely conduct their field training.

The training area will be closed Saturday, August 17 from 10:30 a.m. until noon, where engineer soldiers will be building the temporary bridge across it. The training is scheduled to end at around 10 a.m. on Sunday.
