WARD COUNTY, ND ( KXNET ) — The Ward County Sheriff’s Department has an update on two men who had warrants out for their arrest.

Earlier this week, the Ward County Sheriff’s Department was requesting the public’s assistance in locating two missing men.

45-year-old Nathan Michael Smith and 38-year-old Layne Thomas Bennett both had warrants out for their arrests for construction fraud.

Authorities say both men are facing charges for taking more than $50,000 for abandoned projects connected to Garrison Creek Construction, a concrete and general contracting company.

The two men overcharged for a concrete job in Ward County in July 2021 and then again for a tennis court, also in Ward County, but in May 2021.

But police say despite overcharging, both projects were never completed.

The Sheriff’s Department has since stated that both men’s warrants have been resolved.

There’s probably quite a few legitimate construction companies that could be arrested for construction fraud.
