FARGO, ND (KXNET) — A Fargo man has been arrested and will soon face charges after a standoff occurring on the evening of Saturday, August 17.

According to a press release from the Fargo Police Department, at approximately 11:21 p.m., officers received a report of an adult male physically assaulting two individuals in a home on the 1000 block of Monte Carlo Drive. Upon their arrival on the scene, officers learned that the suspect was still in the home. The victims informed police that the suspect (a 35-year-old Fargo resident) had threatened to shoot officers who entered.

After local asking residents to shelter in place, the FPD announced their presence and repeatedly ordered the suspect to exit the building, but he refused to obey. The Red River Valley SWAT Team was eventually called to assist in removing the suspect from the house.

After he refused to cooperate with negotiators, SWAT officers used a chemical irritant to cause the man to exit the building. He was eventually taken into custody at 5:15 a.m on Sunday, August 18.

The two victims, both adults, were able to escape the home before officers arrived. One was taken to a local medical facility in a private vehicle, and the other declined medical treatment.

The suspect was arrested on two counts of Aggravated Assault, and is currently being held at the Cass County Jail. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
