NORTH DAKOTA ( KXNET ) — With kids going back to school, germs are bound to be in abundance — and with them, there is an increased chance of you and your kids getting sick.

Officials at North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) are reminding neighbors to practice good hygiene, to help keep this from happening.

Good hygiene includes washing your hands, covering your cough, disinfecting all surfaces, and staying home if you do feel sick.

Health professionals also recommend making sure your kids have the proper shots before starting school.

“Going into the respiratory season,” explained HHS’s Immunization Surveillance Coordinator, “it’s good to make sure that you are fully immunized against anything for your age or risk. For myself personally, I get a flu shot every fall. I get a COVID booster when that’s appropriate.”

As a reminder, you can schedule an appointment to get a flu shot at any Walgreens or CVS near you.
