CHICAGO, IL. ( KXNET ) — This week, thousands of Democrats are in Chicago, where they’re expected to formally get behind Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in hopes of sending them to the White House.

It’s been two weeks since Harris chose Walz to be her running mate, and he spoke at the delegate breakfast this week in Chicago. Walz is now serving his second term as Minnesota governor. Before that, he was elected to five terms in Congress.

    Who is Tim Walz?

Recently, we asked North Dakota governor Doug Burgum about Walz’s experience, some of the recent policies he’s enacted in Minnesota, and what it could all mean if the Democrats win in November.

“Remember President Trump in 2016,” Burgum states. “He won 78 out of 87 counties in Minnesota. Rural Minnesota is Trump Country. And they’ve got a set of policies that are steering them down a country, which, again, makes Harris and Walz factually not hyperbole. Not political, but factually, they’re the most left-leaning liberal President and Vice President candidates we’ve ever had in this country.”

Walz will give a speech on Wednesday night, when he’s expected to formally accept the nomination. Harris will close out the DNC with her speech on Thursday night.
