MEDORA, ND ( KXNET ) — We’re finding out more about a wild horse that was recently captured and sold from Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.

KX News filed a Freedom of Information Act request looking for more information on what happened to the wild horse ‘Alluvium.’

On Tuesday, we received a report from the U.S. General Services Administration. In the redacted form, it states the horse had a veterinary exam on July 2nd, but was sold for a bid of $25 to a private buyer signed on July 19th.

This month, National Park Service regional director Bert Frost was in Medora where he joined Sen. John Hoeven on a tour of the park .

What North Dakotans are doing for self-care

Previously, Alluvium was separated in a holding pen after park workers said the bachelor stallion was being a nuisance to trail riders.

“With the horse. We captured the horse. We held him across the outside of the park. We let him go. We did that twice. Within a day he came back and he was causing problems again. And so, we captured him again and we decided the best way to do is to find a home for him and a good home for him. And that’s what we did,” Frost said.

The document doesn’t say who bought the horse.

Horse advocates argue that Alluvium was never listed publicly on the GSA auction website.

In a letter from the GSA office, it states that the horse was placed with an owner who signed a statement of intent to provide Alluvium with care, shelter, and high quality of life for the horse, as working or hobby stock.
