NORTH DAKOTA ( KXNET ) — The Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) awarded nearly $8,000 in grants to two North Dakota school districts.

The funds are part of over $4 million that was recently awarded across the country for people to use for books, technology, equipment, or materials to extend a brighter future for students.

“We understand investing in youth literacy means investing in the future of students and our collective communities,” said the Executive Director of the DGLF, Denine Torr. “Through these grants, we hope to enhance the programs’ efforts to foster students’ critical thinking skills, creativity, and confidence so they can unlock their potential and achieve their dreams.”

The Dickinson School District #1 was awarded $3,780 and the Grafton Public School District #18 was awarded $4,000.

The grants in the state are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of 1,500 people.

Applications for the 2025 Dollar General Literacy Foundation grant cycle will be available online in January 2025.

In addition, the DGLF is also hosting its fifth Yellow Glasses Project through September 8 (or while supplies last). Customers can buy a pair of yellow sunglasses at DG stores for $2 each and all the proceeds go to the foundation.
