Suspicious black van spotted in McLean County

MCLEAN COUNTY, ND ( KXNET ) — According to the McLean County Sheriff’s Office, a witness reported that a man in a black van picked up a pedestrian in McLean County area.

Authorities say the van was last seen traveling east on ND 200. The man in the van picked up a person in the area.

A witness reported the incident, finding it suspicious.

A Fish and Wildlife law enforcement officer attempted to pull the black van over north-west of Mercer around 1:30 PM yesterday, but the driver fled the scene.

The McLean County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public to be on the look-out for the driver of this van, who’s described as a Hispanic male standing 5’6” to 5’9”. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark blue shorts, no shoes, and a white Adidas hat.

While the investigating officer didn’t observe any weapons on the man, the Sheriff’s Office doesn’t know the situation surrounding the person being picked up or why the driver of the van fled.

The Sheriff’s Office warns that the man might be trying to get to the Bismarck area.
