BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — A fundraiser has been established to help a teen battling severe injuries after a horrific BMX bicycle crash.

According to a GoFundMe created by Kaitlyn Jessen, her brother, 15-year-old Dylan Fisher, was involved in an accident on Sunday, August 25th. Upon his arrival at the emergency room, he reportedly had a damaged kidney, a ruptured spleen, and internal bleeding. After being stabilized in Bismarck, he was airlifted via medivac to Fargo Sanford Children’s ICE for additional intensive cares.

The fundraiser continues by stating that the family’s insurance plan has refused to cover Dylan, and that the medical bills will only keep piling up. The family is no stranger to the idea, either, as Dylan’s mother also underwent multiple work-related surgeries.

“In this economy,” states Kaitlyn Jessen on the GoFundMe page, “a lot of us don’t have much to give if any at all – just know that ALL of your kind words, prayers, and words of encouragement are NOT going unnoticed. It truly does take a village and no matter how tough this kid is – believe me, he wasn’t afraid to speak his mind – he has a long road of recovery ahead of him. The one thing he loved more than anything was doing tricks on his bike and the mental battle of not being able to do that for a while or maybe ever again will be tough. PLEASE keep my family in your prayers as we muster up the strength to keep his spirits up!”

All funds collected will go directly towards paying Dylan’s medical bills. To learn more or make a donation to the cause, visit the GoFundMe on this page .

I hope that kid gets better but parents should be more diligent in prepping for their kids when involved in such a dangerous sport.
