Minot, ND ( KXNET ) — The Minot Area Chamber EDC will host the Women Connect Signature Event on Oct. 15, with former Command Chief of Air Force Global Strike Command Melvina “Mel” Smith as guest speaker.

Smith is from Chicago, and has been in the military for 32 years. Her keynote address will focus on topics relevant to women in North Dakota, such as leadership, professional growth, work-life balance, and navigating male-dominated industries.

“Smith’s accomplishments redefine what is possible,” said Rianne Kuhn, Women Connect Committee Chair. “Her success is exemplified through her determination, excellence, and perseverance. This is an event you won’t want to miss.”

Women Connect is a committee that puts on events where women can focus on professional development and support each other as they do so.

They also have an event coming up called the Women’s Leadership Symposium, which will be Oct. 3 at Minot State University. Tickets for it cost up to $60.

The Signature Event will be held in Minot’s Oak Park Theater Oct. 15 at 2 p.m., and is open for anyone to attend. You can register at the Minot Area Chamber EDC website .
