MINOT, N.D.– On September 5th, there will be a pride of Lions on the loose in Towner as Bishop Ryan will open up the season against the TGU Titans, and for some of the seniors on this team, they cant wait to go into Towner to earn their first win.

“I’m looking to win. We had a scrimmage on Saturday and I thought we played really well. Anne Fricke has improved tremendously over the summer. She put a lot of time and a lot of work in. I think just playing with one hundred percent effort I think we’ll come out on top and get the win”, said Olivia Demars.

Birds of a feather flock together, and the Lions believe that the chemistry that they have is tight knitted.

“Senior year, I think we have a really good group of girls’ this year. We’re all very close with each other, so I’m excited to just grow even closer and build the bond that we already have and just have fun in this senior year”, said Alena Johannsen.

“I’m really excited for this year I think we’ve grown a really special bond as teammates that in past years we haven’t really had. I think everyone super close and we’re all ready for this season”, said Cambrie Johannes.

A leader is a dealer in hope, and according to the signal caller the seniors on this team have really stepped up to challenge.

“We’re super excited we have a really good group of girls we have 6 seniors 8 juniors couple sophomores and a lot of freshman. All of these girls have come in and worked really hard to start the season… Our seniors have really established what leadership means they’re playing really well together and i think we’re going to be really competitive”, said Head Coach Nick Theis.

Competitive they will be especially for sisters Olivia Demars and Violet Demars, as this will only be their second season ever competing with each other in volleyball.

” I love it. Playing with her is great. I mean we both gone through knee surgeries. She’s had three and I had two, so this will be the second year I’ve ever been able to play volleyball with her in my high school and middle school volleyball career, so it’s great she really has missed a lot more volleyball than me, but just seeing her being able to play this summer she’s improved so much”, said Olivia Demars.

The Lions will be in action on Thursday in Towner, as they’ll look to start off the 2024 season 1-0 against the TGU Titans. Start time is set for around 5:00PM.
