NORTH DAKOTA ( KXNET ) — The nine-and-a-half-day deer hunting season for licensed youth hunters starts next weekend.

The season for antlerless white-tailed deer starts at noon on Friday, September 13 for residents who are 11, 12, or 13 in 2024. Those who are 14 or 15, meanwhile, can hunt statewide with a youth license for any deer, except for antlered mule deer in units 3B1, 3B2, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D, 4E, and 4F.

Things to do around town: September 2-8

The season comes to a close on September 22 for youth, but the regular deer gun season opens from November 8-24. Hunting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset — and orange clothing is required for both youth hunters and mentors.

While each youth deer hunter must have adult supervision, adults are not allowed to carry a firearm or bow in the field.
