MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — The Souris Valley Animal Shelter, Minot’s only no-kill cat and dog shelter, will soon be hosting its annual SVAS Day Out! event — a fundraiser for a good cause.

The animal shelter was founded in Minot in 1978, and claims to have helped over 35,000 animals through adoptions, medical services, microchipping, and legal cases throughout the last 46 years. The annual fundraiser serves as a way to ensure they can continue this work.

Highlights of the event will include the following:

    • A silent auction
    • A bouncy house
    • Food trucks, featuring Poppa’s Place
    • Vendor tables
    • Celebrity kissing booth — featuring Lyle from Lyle’s Adventures
    • Owner vs. pet ice cream eating contests
    • Face painting
    • ‘Paw-Casso’ pet art

The open house will take place on Saturday, September 4th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the shelter. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Attendees who donate cat litter, two cans of wet food, soft dog treats, or laundry detergent will have their entry fee waived.
