BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park is the oldest state park in North Dakota — and this week, the area began a large upgrade project that will provide campers with all the power and water they need.

The improvement project aims to upgrade modern campsites from 20 and 30-amp to 20, 20, and even 50-amp power. Individual water hydrants will also be added in the south and middle campground loops.

While the park’s camping sites and cabins are temporarily unavailable, all outdoor attractions are still accessible. According to the ND Parks And Recreation Department, the park team is committed to ensuring visitors have a positive experience during this time, and all special events will continue as scheduled.

Campers can also continue to reserve the four equestrian campsites available. Both comfort stations in the campground will be inaccessible, but all vault toilets will remain open.
