MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — If you’re a business owner or looking to start one, there’s an event in Minot that can help.

Starting Thursday morning at 7:30, the Minot Chamber EDC will be hosting Start Up Minot.

The event is a 10-week program and will be held on Thursdays at the Carnegie Center in Downtown Minot. The program will include hands-on classes on the fundamentals of growing a business. There will also be networking and entrepreneur showcase events at the beginning of every month.

The board chair of Minot EDC says no matter the experience level, everyone has the goal of growing as a business professional.

Recovery Rocks ND project to bring hope and encouragement

“The folks that have gone through the academy have been someone who had a idea at the beginning maybe just needed that push to try and cross it over the finish line to people who have been in business but are really just looking to grow and become more experienced entrepreneurs,” said Cassidy Hjelmstad, a board chair for the Minot Chamber EDC.

Start Up Minot will also include a wide array of speakers. While the classes are only once a week, the Minot EDC board chair says the 10-week academy will help encourage business owners to stay and grow in the Minot community.

“For the Minot community to be successful, we need people who want to stay here, who want to invest here, who want to be member investors of chamber EDC, and again how do we do that we do that by surrounding ourselves with like-minded people surrounding and supporting these people that want to get their businesses off the ground,” said Hjelmstad.

While Start Up Minot Academy classes don’t start until the 18th, you can still register online by going here . Classes for the academy cost $150 per person.
