MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — The Minot Chief of Police, John Klug, has been placed on temporary, paid administrative leave.

The Minot Police Department says this goes into effect immediately while an internal investigation takes place.

The decision was made to ensure a thorough and impartial examination of recent information that was presented to City management.

Minot police are still committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and this is part of ongoing efforts to maintain transparency and accountability.

“Our police take care of our community; it’s up to us to take care of them,” said City Manager Harold Stewart. “We will work to be sure our response is appropriate and constructive. Our goal is to be sure our staff and our community can take pride in the process and feel valued, heard, protected, and appreciated.”

Stewart is leading the investigation — which will evaluate the consistency in past disciplinary measures, staff retention, and morale. There is no timeline as the investigation is still in its early stages.

“We want to work through this as quickly as possible, but we also want to do it right,” Stewart continued. “Administrative leave is the best opportunity to help and protect the police department and Chief Klug while we gather information.”

For now, Captain Dale Plessas will be the Acting Chief of Police.

That's because a lot of these cops in this town are a bunch of a*******, literally half of them will pull you over for just going one mile over the speed limit. And they tried to find reasons to meet their quota. And pull your a** over. Most of these people don't deserve to wear the blue.
