FARGO, ND ( KXNET ) — Going through TSA can be a headache. When you’re going through the airport and trying to get to your gate, taking off your shoes, jacket, and belt to go through a metal detector can be a tedious part of the process.

In 2011, TSA PreCheck was created to make the process easier. Starting the last day of September, Hector International Airport is hosting an event where people can enroll in TSA PreCheck.

You can enroll in PreCheck online or in-person. The in-person enrollment requires applicants to provide proof of identity and citizenship, as well as fingerprints and a photo.

IDEMIA, the provider that will be offering PreCheck at Hector International, charges $78 for enrollment. If approved, you get a five-year membership with the program.

After the in-person enrollment appointment, most applicants receive their known traveler number (KTN) in about three to five days. You must add this number to flight reservations to be able to use TSA PreCheck.

The event at Hector International will take place on the second floor of the terminal building, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 4. The program is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents.

If you are unable to make the event but would still like to apply, you can complete the application online and schedule an appointment at any of the 560+ enrollment centers nationwide.
