MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Luis and Perla Gonzales’ house was struck by lightning in 2023, and one year later, they are now the Owners of El Azteca.

“Its crazy,” Luis states, “but God works in mysterious ways. We did not see ourselves owning a restaurant a year ago. It felt like God put it in our hands and our laps, and we went with it.”

While El Azteca closed about a year ago, the restaurant is now reopening, moving into their original space on North Broadway but with new owners. They are keeping the same cooks to help with the authenticity of the food.

New to the menu is the Papa Loco Bowl, a steak that’s cut up into a baked potato. It’s popular in California, and now, they are bringing it to the Magic City. Breakfast burritos are coming back, too, and they have hamburgers if you want something a little different than Mexican food.

Beyond this, they have a new logo with their restaurant name, and their awnings have the colors of the Mexican flag. In the future, they are hoping to get a drive thru.

El Azteca is located at 2035 North Broadway, and they are open all week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
