BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — A 33-year-old man is in jail today after allegedly stabbing a 52-year-old man Friday, September 13, near the area of Ministry on the Margins in Bismarck.

Police say it is unclear what provoked the assault.

Officers responded to the 200 block of North 24th Street shortly before 10:45 p.m. for a report of a man who had been stabbed multiple times.  When officers arrived, they provided medical aid to the 52-year-old. Witnesses and video surveillance provided a description of the suspect, who was later located around 24th Street and Thayer Ave.

KX News obtained court documents, which show a witness told police he had pepper spray and sprayed the man, later identified as Christian Marshall to break up the attack.

Marshall was arrested on charges of Attempted Murder, Wearing a Mask in the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was in Burleigh County court on Monday afternoon.

The stabbing victim is expected to recover from his injuries.

Bismarck Police say both men are homeless.
