    Suicide prevention: MSU hosts free documentary screening

    MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — As part of September’s Suicide Prevention Month, the Minot State Military Resource Center will host a free documentary screening.

    “Suicide: The Ripple Effect” is a feature-length documentary film and movement that focuses on the effects of suicide and the positive ripple effects of advocacy, inspiration, and hope.

    The movie will be played at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24 in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall, with a question-and-answer discussion afterward.

    988 encourages mental health support in the workplace

    “The film opened my eyes to the complexity and far-reaching effects of suicide,” said MSU Military Resource Center’s Director, Andy Heitkamp. “It got me started down the educational path to learning more about prevention/intervention and available treatments for suicidal individuals as well as other mental health diseases.”

    Local and regional service providers will also be at Old Main’s second-floor lobby starting at 6 p.m., including Fargo Regional VA representatives, the Mobile Vet Center, and community veteran service providers.
