MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Angela Kennecke, a renowned broadcast journalist and the founder of Emily’s Hope, will deliver an urgent, yet compelling message at Minot State about the fentanyl poisoning epidemic.

Emily’s Hope is a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about substance use disorder, removing the stigma surrounding it, and providing financial support for treatment and recovery.

Kennecke will host a presentation at 7 p.m. on September 30 in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall about the dangers of the drug and the efforts being made to combat the epidemic.

Her life-saving message underscores the risk of taking just one counterfeit or illicit pill that is the leading cause of death for people ages 18-45.

Kennecke’s mission became urgent after the loss of her daughter, Emily, to fentanyl poisoning. Emily didn’t know the substance she took contained fentanyl, and the loss left Kennecke determined to spare other families.

For the last five years, Kennecke has been sharing her story with students and community groups nationwide, offering a personal perspective and a call to action. This is a chance to hear from a dedicated advocate who turned a personal tragedy into a fight for change.
