MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — Many community organizations find ways to honor veterans, and the Minot Masonic Center will be doing just that on Saturday.

Starting at 11 a.m. the center will host a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for a brand new Prisoner of War flag and pole.

The Minot American Legion chapter will raise the flag and bagpipe music will end the ceremony.

Lunch will be served at the event at noon, members of the Masonic Center say the ceremony is a way to honor veterans letting them know they’re not forgotten.

“A lot of them sometimes feel that they are forgotten in some way, in some aspects, or they have lost close friends and family as well. It’s just a good reminder to bring back to communities, just to bring back that awareness of no matter what you do you are never forgotten,” said Shawn Lewellyn, the president of the Minot Shrine Club.

The Masonic Center will also be accepting donations at the event. Those donations will go to charitable causes for kids.
