MERCER COUNTY, N.D. ( KXNET )— The man accused of killing a Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy intends to change his plea.

In April, Ian Cramer pleaded not guilty to homicide charges in connection to a fatal crash that happened in December of 2023. That crash killed Deputy Paul Martin. Authorities say Cramer was driving up to speeds of 100 miles an hour, and kept going even after his vehicle tires were flattened by a spiked device.

Court documents obtained by KX News show that a request for a change of plea was filed Wednesday, September 18. The request is set to go before a judge Friday.

Ian Cramer’s homicide trial set for September 24
