BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — Two people are being charged with drug-related offenses after officers discovered methamphetamine in their car in Williston.

According to the Williston Police Department, at about 1:35 p.m. on Sept. 17, the WPD received a call about two individuals suspected to have stolen property from a store, and were given a description of their car.

An officer got to the location, found the car, and saw three people walking towards it. The officer confronted them, and one of the people said she stole a dog leash and harness from the store. They then gave the officer consent to search their bags and the car, and the officer found a pill container with two straws that had suspected methamphetamine residue.

One of the people told the officer she had a loaded syringe in the car, which the officer found and suspected to have liquid methamphetamine — along with a baggie also suspected to have meth.

Another person told the officer that his only property in the car was a gray backpack, which the officer searched and found to contain marijuana paraphernalia along with a smoking device suspected to have meth residue. The person who owned the backpack confirmed the meth paraphernalia belonged to him.

The man who owns the gray backpack is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, for which he has a prior conviction, and the woman who claimed ownership of the syringe is facing the same charge, along with possession of controlled substance charge, both of which she has prior convictions for.
