BISMARCK, N.D. ( KXNET ) — People who buy a ticket to the show at the Bismarck Event Center will soon have a more comfortable seat. This week, city leaders approved a bid for over four million dollars to replace more than three thousand seats in the Event Center arena.

The bid is around $4.3 million, and will be used to purchase new telescopic retractable seats from the company Hussey. Amanda Yellow with the Event Center says the current blue seats are over 20 years old and are starting to show wear and tear.

“The seats will look different,” Yellow states. “The cushions will be different. The cupholders will be different. The operations of the system will be different for our staff. Turnaround time might be lessened as far as turning around events for us, so, it’s something we’ve been working on for a couple of years.”

The new seats are expected to be installed by September 2025. Yellow says that work will start next year, after June’s PBR rodeo.
