So to start off, I want to take a look at some of the severe weather stats that we had over the summer from June to September. And well, what we saw in that time period of summer is 212. Severe thunderstorms, warnings issued across the region. We had 748 local storm reports issued in 26 out of the 94 days of summer had hail reports in 15 out of the 94 days had heavy wind reports.

Luckily, Tornadoes forecast were a bit off and The number was a little bit smaller than maybe expect, and we only had 17 tornado warnings with the most prevalent one being that Steele EF-1 tornado, we did have a EF-2 that started in Corson county but didn’t gain max strength until it moved out of our region.

We look at our average high temperatures across the board. Williston was the warmest, 82.3 degrees was your average high temperature for the summer. Bismarck was right around 81.9, Dickinson 81.3. And Minor had the coolest average high temperature across the summer, sitting right around 79.2 degrees. So it was a warm summer had we’ve had a warm September to end summer and move into fall. We’ll see how that changes as we move through fall into winter.

When we look at precipitation numbers. Will Bismarck you had around right around 8.84 inches of rainfall over the summer. Our average what we were below that average is right around 10.259 at the same story, below average rainfall totals at 7.43 for this year are average in Minot That’s right around 9.5 to Dickinson also shows below average numbers for rainfall. With our rainfall this year being right around 6.77 inches, our average is 8.38. And then Williston also below average with rainfall total right around 5.7, with the average being right around 7.84 and our normal summer rainfall total.

This is how we started the summer, right before summer. This is the last drought monitor update. And what it showed was a lot of the state was actually in the good that southwest corner had some drought building and the northwest corner. Now this is the last drought update from the before summer ended. And what we see is lots of areas out to the west, they been a lot drier. So they’ve had that drought continuing to build itself, but it’s not been the worst of all time. We look towards last year and all of the north was in that drought at the start and the end of summer. So it hasn’t been as bad this year for those areas to the north.
