BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — The National Park Service has awarded about $1.26 million for Sully Creek State Park to renovate its campsites.

The money comes from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), and will be used to reconfigure the road network at the park to increase the number of campsites, as well as to install camper pads, water, and 50-amp utilities.

North Dakota Senator John Hoeven helped secure this funding as part of the Senate Energy & Natural Resources and Appropriations Committees.

“The National Park Service’s funding will support efforts to ensure North Dakota’s parks, including Sully Creek State Park, have the facilities needed to deliver an improved camping experience for locals and visitors,” Hoeven states, “ensuring they are able to fully take advantage of the abundant attractions our state offers.”

The LWCF was established by Congress in 1964, and helps the government invest in the conservation of land and other natural areas.
