CAVALIER, ND ( KXNET ) — The Department of the Army has awarded about $19.13 million to the Cavalier Space Force Station to construct an emergency power plant fuel storage facility.

The project will build a 360,000-gallon fuel storage farm, which will operate emergency power for Cavalier’s Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS).

Senator Hoeven makes progress on three projects

North Dakota Senator John Hoeven (R), a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, talked about how this award will help the space force station.

“North Dakota is playing an important role in our nation’s space operations,” Hoeven said. “This funding will help to construct an emergency power plant fuel storage farm, which is important in ensuring the operation of Cavalier’s PARCS, which detects missile threats and monitors satellites and other space objects.”

Hoeven has recently secured funding for a number of programs and projects. This includes Project ULTRA, which provides more than $10 million in funding through 2025 to conduct test flights of cargo between the Grand Forks Air Force Base and the Cavalier station.
