BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — The road construction project on South Washington St and Burleigh Ave is almost done on the north side of the roundabout, and will soon begin on the south half of the area.

This will cause traffic pattern changes at the intersection, and a new detour will be put in place.

Starting Friday, October 4, Washington St. will be closed from directly south of Burleigh Ave. to Nina Ln.

Washington St. north of Burleigh Ave. will continue the southbound-only traffic pattern.

The Knife River Corporation asks drivers to use the detour route, which will be turning off of Nina Ln. to go south on Washington St., turning east onto 48th Ave. Se and north onto South 12th St. This will tie into the current northbound detour.

The goal of the project is to put in a new traffic light at Washington St and Santa Fe Avenue, and a roundabout at Burleigh Avenue.

This detour is expected to be in place for about three weeks.

Whose stupid idea was that to put a tiny, unnecessary, roundabout in 19th and Calvary? 👎🏼😡🙄
