WILLISTON, ND ( KXNET ) — A Williston woman has been arrested after a search of her vehicle resulted in the discovery of a substance believed to be methamphetamine on the afternoon of Saturday, October 5.

According to the Williston Police Department, at approximately 2:01 p.m., an officer was on patrol when he observed a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway and a woman in the driver’s seat. The woman — 53-year-old Staci Rae Alvarado — was confirmed to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

Upon being approached and asked to exit the vehicle, Alvarado began to resist, but eventually complied and was placed into custody. During a search of the vehicle, the officer allegedly located an open bottle of beer on the passenger floor, as well as a small bag containing what is suspected to be methamphetamine.

Alvarado has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance — a Class C Felony — in Williams County District Court.
